You Kept Me

"LORD, YOU have been our dwelling place and our refuge in all generations". Psalm 90:1

It could of been me
No bed to sleep on
No door to shut
No room to breathe
No meal to eat
But You kept me

It could of been me
Hiding out
Trying to figure out
How to get a job
How to make ends meet
How to get off the street
But You kept me

It could of been me
With a dream to act on
Fighting for my education
Running from immigration
Praying for liberation
Just to be a citizen of this nation
But You kept me

It could of been me
stuggling with my identity
Being hated on because of homosexuality
Preyed upon by Christianity
Brutaly abused for being what I don't understand to be
But You kept me

You kept me from hunger
You kept me from pain
You kept me from poverty
You kept me from being a slave

You kept me from suicide
You kept me from danger
You kept me from corruption
You kept me from strangers

You kept me from the psych ward
You kept me from the battle of the mind
You kept me from loosing it
You kept me from being in a bind

For so long you watched over me
protecting
comforting
teaching
For so long, I know I'll always be
Thanking You for keeping.

You've kept me.
